Generic, vendor-neutral starting points. Edit to match the project scope, the local code, and the end-client's requirements.

• Door controllers

  The access-control system shall use IP-networked door controllers supporting up to four readers per unit, with on-board decision logic so that doors continue to operate during a network outage. Controllers shall log every cardholder transaction with timestamp, user identifier, and door reference, and shall re-synchronise with the central server automatically on reconnection. Each controller shall expose a documented API for integration with third-party systems.

• Readers

  Readers shall support contactless smart-card credentials at the door, with optional biometric verification (face or fingerprint) where the project scope requires multi-factor authentication. Readers shall be rated for the installed environment (indoor or outdoor) and shall communicate with the controller over a documented protocol (OSDP or equivalent) where the project specifies secure reader-to-controller signalling.

• Electric locks and door hardware

  Electric locking hardware shall be selected to match the door type (timber, glass, metal) and the egress strategy (fail-safe or fail-secure) defined by the architect and the local fire authority. Door position monitoring and request-to-exit signalling shall be wired back to the controller so that forced-door and door-held-open events are logged centrally.
